Due to an upcoming retirement and to strengthen our Purchasing Team in Linz, we are looking for a Lead Buyer (m/f/d).
Purpose of the role
As a Lead buyer you are accountable to achieve an effective procurement of goods at the lowest total cost of ownership and manage the interface between sourcing and the stakeholders on site.
You develop, align and implement sourcing strategies in line with NITRO Procurement overall strategy and stakeholders demands and actively build and maintain a successful and effective supplier relationship management. In Borealis, safety is priority number one, so you will have a strong responsibility to proactively promote and drive the health, safety and environmental awareness and behaviour.

Your main contributions and responsibilities
- Strategic and tactical procurement of an assigned portfolio
- Maintain local contracts, purchase orders and master data in respective (IT-systems)
- Assure timely communication about market information, supplier production process knowledge, supplier performance, etc. to relevant stakeholders & sourcing organisation
- Follow up supplier quality and delivery performance and participate in supplier development
- Understands the HSEQ requirements of the Site and communicates effectively these requirements to the suppliers and contractors at Site and guides suppliers (and others) where necessary to comply with safety standards.
- Manage key supplier relationship through an active Supplier Relationship Management
- Manage and resolve claims

You are the right candidate for this position if you handle multiple projects with demanding schedules simultaneously and demonstrate a high level of integrity and ethics to ensure compliance in the procurement process.
- Business or technical higher education (preferably bachelor's or master's degree)
- Minimum 5-10 years relevant procurement experience
- Good understanding of company processes, policies and procedures
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills and the ability to positively convince and motivate others
- Work independently, goal-oriented and structured
- Fluency (reading, writing and speaking) in English and German
- Operational knowledge of SAP
What we offer you
We offer a competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement in the chemical industries starting at EUR 64.400, - annual gross salary, a yearly bonus and other fringe benefits including a voluntary pension plan, a flexible working time model with flexitime agreement and home office option.
