Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated nurse with excellent clinical skills and sound decision making, to join our progressive senior nursing team as an Associate Charge Nurse ICU 0.8FTE. The applicant must have at least five years post registration experience with a minimum of two years spent in a critical care area.
Hours of work are predominantly afternoon shifts with the two weekends per month.

Specific duties include:
- Fostering a culture of clinical excellence
- Maintaining high standards of clinical expertise
- Acting as a resource for nursing staff and junior ICU SHO's
- Providing clinical support/coaching to staff on a daily basis
- Notifying ICU consultant of any issues regarding ICU patients that requires clinical oversite
- Liaison with Duty Nurse Management team after hours
- Actively participating in quality improvement and risk management
Skills and Experience:
- At least five years post registration in surgical or relevant area, and a reputation for clinical excellence
- At least two years spent in a critical care area
- A current portfolio with a minimum PDRP level 3
- Completed or working towards Post Graduate Diploma
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Current advanced life support certificate core advanced
- Enthusiastic and a proactive attitude
The successful applicant must have a registration with the Nursing Council of NZ as a registered nurse and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
